Artist Update: Tom Pazderka's Dark October
It’s great to hear from Silo118 artist Tom Pazderka! He’s got news for us and multiple exhibitions coming up this fall. Read on for more info.
Explaining his recent lack of activity on social media, Tom writes:
I’m not one for ridiculous build-ups of content, that eventually result in something that most will just go ‘meh.’ I leave it until the end. Whether this is a good strategy – I don’t know – but I’m doing it nonetheless. When it comes to my work and painting in general, I think time for doing and reflection is important. Flooding the internet world with unfinished work and half-baked concepts that don’t go anywhere is what Instagram and Facebook are for. But dark October is upon us whether we like it or not and here are the details of the shows that I’m involved in. Let’s start with the big one.
‘Anamnesis’ is an upcoming solo show at Gallery 825 in West Hollywood. The show will consist of new paintings dealing with and examining the ontological incompleteness of immigrant life. These paintings are taken from old family photos going back to the 1950s and 60s and as the title suggests are an attempt to reconstitute memory via the lives of other people.
